CocoChew is an all natural dog toy company that finds innovative ways to make fun and safe toys from natural materials. Our goal is to enhance the overall health and well-being of dogs by providing the best products while making a positive impact on the environment. CocoChew is more than a toy manufacturer. At our core, we aim to educate consumers, give back to local communities and organizations, and inspire dog parents to do more with their dogs. At CocoChew, we embrace the positive influence dogs have on our lives; in return it is our duty to provide them with the very best the planet has to offer.
While visiting a friend in Maui, Hawaii, Chip noticed dogs running around the beaches with coconuts hanging out of their mouths. Intrigued, he asked local veterinarians if coconuts were safe to chew on. It turns out, coconut husk is not only safe to chew on, but actually helps scrub dogs teeth. The veterinarians went on to say their patients with the cleanest teeth, chew on coconuts regularly.
During our senior year at the University of New Hampshire, a school project called for coming up with a product idea and developing a business plan. After hearing about Chip’s trip to Hawaii and his idea to make dog toys from coconut husk, we were immediately hooked!
Having all witnessed the harm poor dental health can to do a dog, we were passionate to start a company that addressed poor dental health with sustainable toys. We entered the Holloway Startup Competition, made it to the finals, and received prize money which helped us start our new venture!
We spent the summer of 2017 selling our hand tied CocoChews along Cape Cod at five farmer’s markets. It was the perfectway to meet dog lovers and share our story. After the market, we would head to the beach and continue hand tying CocoChews. Not a bad way to spend the summer, if we can say so ourselves.
While CocoChew makes awesome dog toys, we are much more than just a dog toy company. We believe in giving back and inspiring people to do more with their dogs. Attending events and hosting our own, allows us to give back to rescue-shelters and make a positive impact on surrounding communities.
From our famous Tails ’n Ales events at local breweries to organizing a dog park cleanup, we are always looking for news ways to have fun with our pups and give back.
